Flexible Friend

Her weight is great
her line is fine

Her heart is smart
her spine's aligned

My friend can bend -
we're not sure when

She planned to stand
back up again

Seasonal Solidarity

To all the junior doctors
who showed their guts and spine

Picturehouse and Ritzy staff
in unity combine

The posties, drivers, guards and all
who chose to fight not whine

Season's greetings from the poets
on the picket line

Waiting

Free tea and coffee
from the volunteers
today.

Four older folks
sitting on the row
of chairs along from me
looking like they'd love
a nice cuppa but might
struggle walking round
the corner to the main
waiting room to get it.
So

And It Could Be Years

A poem written by my partner John Leach ...

Janine has got cancer
My partner could be dying, it's
only a matter of time, and
it could be years.

People say it's not what it was
they've got it early, it's not a
death sentence, and it could be
dealt with by pills
- But it's said out of love not knowledge.
