Raising money for the marvellous Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund. Hosted by RMT National President Peter Pinkney, this event at the union's AGM will include Janine performing poetry, flautist Steve Barker and others to be confirmed.
If you don't want a Blairite bottom-feeder
If you want to fight cuts not give in to greed or
Tack your policies to a Daily Mail reader
If you want to back a winner and not a conceder
Vote Jeremy Corbyn for Labour Leader!
My eyes don’t focus yet on places
Further than my parents’ faces
The centre of my world’s that breast
Where I’m the sole and honoured guest
It's something I am, not something I've got
Although that may seem a fine line
You can't separate us - oh no, you can not
It isn't Asperger's - it's mine!
New Year's morning, London city
What a warming, cheery sight
Of faces pink and plump and pretty
And smug cos they weren't pissed last night
At WEA London region.
A follow-up training day open to all those who have attended the Stage 1 briefing.
Janine and many other poets/acts will be performing at this regular, monthly event. June's Poetry LGBT will be raising funds and awareness for Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund.
Many of Janine’s poems are, as she says, all about “venting her spleen on the poetic stage”. For this Workers’ Liberty member, socialist-feminist, trade unionist, spoken-word performer, every day has to be a day for hating the Tories.
A sonnet written on the occasion of Lord Alan Sugar's resignation form the Labour Party:
So who invited that spiv to the party?
No, we don't want his cut-throat sort round here
His anti-social manners are so nasty
He's nicking all the food and selling beer
He's telling all my mates that they are fired
And acting like he bloody owns the place
His snotty, bossy, snobbery is tired
I'm losing friends who hate this public face
He came in with another party crasher
And now he's gone but not cleared up his rubble
He's got a better offer - somewhere flasher?
And now we're spared the need to take the trouble
- To turf Lord Cuckoo out of Labour's nest
- Which leaves the task of turfing out the rest
