Grenfell Tower fire
The appalling fire on 14 June 2017, in which at least 72 people died, victims of inequality, corner-cutting and capitalism.
RMT invites its members (and their guests) to join us at our National Education Centre to mark the first anniversary of the Grenfell Tower Fire. We will be hearing from poets who have contributed to 'Poems for Grenfell Tower', an anthology that expresses not just mourning for the victims but anger at the causes and solidarity with the ongoing struggle for justice.
Janine is one of fifty poets who has contributed to this anthology of verse about the Grenfell Tower fire.
Join us at this launch event. Venue: Seven Dials Club, 42 Earlham St, WC2H 9LA.
Poets reading their work: Pat Winslow, Tom McColl, George Szirtes, Neil Reeder, Andrew Dixon, S.O. Fasrus, Peter A. Kelly, Gillian Laker, Caroline Maldonado, Janine Booth, Kevin Higgins, Nick Moss, Myra Schneider, Lindy Newns
Join Second Home and Words of Colour Productions for an evening in recognition of the tragedy of Grenfell Tower.
There will be a screening On the Ground at Grenfell - which won the Portobello Film Festival 2017 Best Film Award - and hosting a discussion with filmmaker Adrianne McKenzie.
Janine will be giving the first and possibly only performance of her as-yet unpublished long poem 'A Tale of Two Cities (The Rich and the Towerful)' about the Grenfell Tower fire.
Plenty of other poets and performers will be doing their thing, at an evening devoted to longer spiels than we rhymesters usually do.
Venue: Rehab Hackney, 271 Well Street, London E9 6RG
