Union Tavern, Kings Cross, WC1X 9AA

On September 13 jailed Iranian trade unionist and socialist Shahrokh Zamani was found dead in his prison cell.

As well as being a tragedy, Shahrokh’s death was a blow to workers’ struggles in Iran and internationally – and a reminder of the need for continued, and intensified, solidarity with the Iranian working class.

We are holding this poetry and spoken word event to commemorate Shahrokh and raise funds for Shahrokh’s family and for Iranian solidarity campaign materials. Comrades will also speak briefly about Shahrokh’s life and story, and about plans for the launch of a new campaign to support the workers of Iran.

£6 waged, £3 unwaged

The Union Tavern will be giving a 20% discount on food to all those attending the event.
