All Lives Matter

When my team lost to a goal in the last five minutes of the match from a free kick that should never have been given and got relegated and my face went down with them, you didn't tell me that all football clubs matter.

When we walked together along the High Street and saw that woman with the clipboard and looked at each other and stopped and signed her petition against the local hospital closing, you didn't say that all hospitals matter.

When you held my clammy hand outside the windowed door of the ward full of tiny bodies in tiny glass tanks with enormous drips and monitors that we willed to keep on beeping, you didn't point out that all babies matter.

You didn't need to. Everything matters only when every thing matters.
