Advice to a Worker in Danger

Submitted by Janine on Sun, 17/05/2020 - 06:45

This is a poem to tell you your rights,
if you find yourself working at dangerous sites
So please brush up your knowledge and uphold the law –
know that workers at risk have the right to withdraw

So if you’re facing danger that’s imminent and serious,
working conditions that seem deleterious
Call up your boss and then step right away –
you can not get in trouble, they can’t stop your pay

You don’t want to act solo? Then share out the pressure
confer with your workmates and down tools together
`You don’t go to work to get injured or sick –
If it’s danger or safety, you know which to pick

So please don’t throw your health or your life down the pan
If it’s not safe, refuse it! The law says you can.
