Mine, and occasionally others'.

Transnational Anthem

God save one's gracious tax
Long live one's noble sacks
God save one's tax
Send it on holiday
Make sure the proles all pay
I own the islands anyway
God save one's tax

One has to be much shrewder
Deposit some in Bermuda
And some offshore
Take all the dosh one's got
Fill up one's golden pot
And stash it on the Royal Yacht
Then get some more

A Cellarful of Solidarity

18/11/2017 - 19:00

Poetry on the Picket line grew out of the solidarity work carried out by the poets involved with supporting PCS members in the National Gallery dispute. Committed to using the power of poetry to move people, they have always believed in putting their money where their mouths are and, with this in mind, they are holding their first fundraiser:

Hill Fifty

Step up to the hilltop
take in the view

Look! There in the distance!
the places you played
as a child, where your journey’s
foundations were laid

And there is the path
which led you from home
Growing as you went
coming out on your own

And there in the foothills
where I joined you to walk
The soft, easy road
then the rocks, then the fork

Because

I asked because I didn't know
I stayed because I couldn't go
I told because I couldn't show
I wilted when I couldn't grow
Said yes because you won't take no
I'm high because I can not cope with low

Harvey is a Sex Addict

Harvey Weinstein is an addict
Harvey, he just has to have it
Harvey's checked into a clinic
Not convinced? You heartless cynic
Harvey can not help himself
Please pray for Harvey's failing health

Off Your Knees

Keep politics out of sport
Black lives may matter
but all that matters here
is the score

Keep politics out of football
because standing up for the national anthem
is not political
but kneeling for it is

Keep politics off the pitch
Offence and defence
are matters for the field of play
not for the field of struggle

Get a Grip

It's World Mental Health Day, so ...

SNAP OUT OF IT
Snap out of taking orders
Snap out of blame
Snap out of 'disorders'
Snap out of shame
Snap out of austerity
Snap out of stressors
Snap out of poverty
Snap out of pressures
Snap out of 'raising awareness'
and start raising hell
This system's sick
It isn't well
